== 생애 ==
1865년 12월 8일에 프랑스 [[베르사유]]의 [[유대인]] 가정에서 태어났다. 아버지 아메데 아다마르({{llang|fr|Amédée Hadamard}})는 교사였으며, 어머니는 클레르 마리 잔 피카르({{llang|fr|Claire Marie Jeanne Picard}})였다. 1884년에 [[에콜 노르말 쉬페리외르]]에 입학하였으며, 1892년에 박사 학위를 수여받았다. 같은 해에 루이즈아나 트레넬({{llang|fr|Louise-Anna Trénel}})과 결혼하여 3남2녀를 두었다.

1893년에 [[보르도 대학교]] 강사가 되었다. 1894년에 [[반유대주의]] [[드레퓌스 사건]]이 발생하였다. 아다마르는 유대인이었으며, 아다마르의 6촌 친척 루시 드레퓌스({{llang|fr|Lucie Dreyfus}})가 드레퓌스 사건의 당사자 [[알프레드 드레퓌스]]의 아내였다. 이 때문에, 아다마르는 [[무신론자]]였지만 [[시온주의]] 등에 관심을 갖게 되었다.

1896년에 [[소수 정리]]를 증명하였다. (거의 동시에 [[샤를장 드 라 발레푸생]]이 같은 정리를 독자적으로 증명하였다.) 같은 해에 [[보르도 대학교]] 교수로 승진하였다. 1897년에 [[파리 (프랑스)|파리]]로 이사하여, 1909년에 [[콜레주 드 프랑스]]의 교수가 되었다. 1912년에 [[에콜 폴리테크니크]]의 교수가 되었다. 1916년에 [[프랑스 과학 아카데미]] 회원이 되었다.

[[제2차 세계 대전]] 도중 [[나치 독일]]이 프랑스를 침공하자, [[유대인]]이었던 아다마르는 프랑스 남부로 피난하였다. [[비시 프랑스]] 정부는 아다마르가 미국으로 망명하는 것을 허용하였으며 아다마르는 1941년~1944년까지 미국 [[컬럼비아 대학교]]에 있었다. 1944년에 [[런던]]으로 이사하였으며, 1945년에 종전 뒤 고국으로 귀환하였다.

1963년 10월 17일에 [[파리 (프랑스)|파리]]에서 향년 97세의 나이로 사망하였다.
